Of all the lifestyle factors, the food that we eat may be the most powerful tool we have to slow our rate of aging. For 1 thing, food is fundamental. We eat kilograms of the stuff every day and it is packed with nutrients, chemicals, even microplastics, which determine our health.


Our food is the main determinant in whether we have inflammation, oxidative damage, diabetes, heart disease, and so many diseases. For the other thing, there is a big disconnect between what our bodies are designed to consume vs what we actually eat in modern western civilizations.In this program, we discuss superfood heroes and superfood villains. We look at 10 different dimensions of our food:

Inflammation

DNA preservation

pH

Satiety

Insulin sensitivity

Muscle growth

Cognition

Lipids

Vascular

Autophagy


We finish with a list of superfoods that are so healthy it is best to try to eat them every single day.


How can we eat superfoods every day?

We need a food strategy that permits us to get a wide variety of super foods into our stomach every day.  It is usually not sufficient on a tasty recipe containing a superfood here and there, because this approach is not comprehensive enough!

To really be successful, I propose the idea of the Un-Recipe.  Unrecipes are super simple recipes that you can follow effortlessly.  They include just a few ingredients.  They can be prepared in bulk and consumed again for several days. 

Example unrecipe: steam Stokes purple sweet potatoes until soft.  Cool in fridge.  Eat or use in place of purlple Play-Doh.  Nuff said.
